↠ Before removing your old polish, file and shape your nails. The lacquer provides extra strength to nails that tend to break and split. Its also easier to notice a difference in shape on painted nails.
Bonus Tip: If your nails are delicate go for a rounded or oval look! Not only are they structurally stronger but they have fewer edges and corners to catch onto things and encourage breaks.
↠ The quickest efficient way to remove old polish is by getting a small mason jar with a screw lid. Cut a sponge into 2 lengthwise pieces, roll them into a swirl-like configuration and place them into a jar. Then pour nail polish remover into the jar, make sure you have enough to soak the sponge. Dip your nails in and BOOM, they're clean! Close the lid and save for next time.
↠ To be sure any extra nail polish can be wiped away easily, rub vaseline or lotion on the skin surrounding your nails before polish is applied. You can also rub it on after for a more polished professional finish!
↠ Put your nail polish in the fridge for 15 minutes before you apply as it will go on smoother
↠ Apply a base coat, allow it to dry. The base coat helps the nail color last longer also good base coats contain nutrients that replenish dry and brittle nails.
↠ I know sometimes there is just no where to put your nail polish or you just want to avoid it from tipping over from time to time. You should consider a Tweexy! Tweexy is a wearable polish holder that fits all finger sizes and every size nail polish bottle, from the mini collections to the largest, luxury brands. You can get one on Amazon for 10$!
↠ When the base coat is dried start applying the color of your choice by placing a drop of nail polish at the center just a little above the cuticle. Push the drop down but make sure to leave a gap between the color and the cuticle. Brush even strokes and apply another layer if needed.
↠ I know waiting for your nails to dry can be boring and if your super impatient like me you'll want to know how to dry them as quickly as possible! You can speed up the process by dipping your painted nails in ice water for about 3 minutes. But if you can't take the cold water and aren't adding a design to your nails I'd suggest Out The Door Top Coat! I use this top coat it dries soooooo fast!
